2008 Executive Committee
The Executive Committee of a mission functions as its vestry. It oversees the temporal, physical and financial aspects of parish life. This Executive Committee is also engaged in planning, funding and overseeing the "New Start" -- the new Episcopal congregation that is being formed here in Brockton.

Job descriptions of the Committee Members
Warden
Duties:
The warden works closely with the vicar in strategic planning for the mission as well as its ongoing worship life and practical operation. The warden attends regularly scheduled meetings of the executive committee (usually monthly), and, in the absence of the vicar, chairs those meetings. In the case of a prolonged absence of the vicar, the warden arranges for the temporary performance of the duties of the vicar. The warden is also responsible for communications between the executive committee, the congregation, the mission partners, and other interested constituents.
Qualifications:
The warden should be familiar with St. Paul's mission strategy planning, and committed to it. The warden should have good interpersonal skills and work well with the vicar as well as with the executive committee. He or she should possess good written and oral communication skills, and be a good listener. The warden should be an active, contributing member of St. Paul's congregation and a communicant in good standing.
Term of service:
The warden is asked to commit to serving for two years. After two years, we envision, a new executive committee drawn from members of the new congregation will be formed. The warden may continue service on this new committee. When the Mission regains parish status, the executive committee will, in turn, be replaced by a vestry.
Treasurer
Duties:
The treasurer receives and disburses all monies collected under the authority of the executive committee. The treasurer keeps accurate records of receipts and disbursements, and presents statements of these to regularly scheduled meetings of the executive committee (usually monthly). The treasurer presents a summary financial statement of receipts and disbursements and of the general financial situation of the Mission to the Annual Meeting of the congregation. He or she is responsible for the financial page of the annual parochial report, and for filing statements, in hard copy and electronically. The treasurer chairs the finance committee, if the executive committee creates one. The treasurer may act or appoint another member of the executive committee (with or without power of substitution) to act as proxy or attorney in fact for the Mission at any meeting of stockholders of any corporation, the securities of which may be held by the Mission. As a member of the executive committee, the treasurer contributes to the ongoing work of managing the life of the Mission and planning its future.
Qualifications:
The treasurer should be familiar with St. Paul's mission strategy planning, and committed to it. He or she should be familiar with the conventions of financial record keeping and able to use appropriate computer software to facilitate it. The treasurer should be an active member and communicant in good standing of an Episcopal church.

The treasurer is asked to commit to serving for two years. After two years, we envision, a new executive committee drawn from members of the new congregation will be formed. The treasurer may continue service on this new committee. When the Mission regains parish status, the executive committee will, in turn, be replaced by a vestry.
Clerk
Duties:
The clerk keeps minutes of the regularly scheduled meetings of the executive committee (usually monthly). The clerk posts the minutes to file, both hard copy and electronic, and to other interested parties as agreed by the executive committee. The clerk assists the warden with communications between the executive committee, the congregation, the mission partners, and other interested parties. He or she keeps a roll of the members of the Mission entitled to vote in its affairs. As a member of the executive committee, the clerk contributes to the ongoing work of managing the life of the Mission and planning its future.
Qualifications:
The clerk should be familiar with St. Paul's mission strategy planning, and committed to it. The clerk should have strong written communication skills and the ability to use electronic communications for the purpose of storing and disbursing minutes. The clerk should be an active member and communicant in good standing of an Episcopal church.

South Shore Deanery Representative
Duties:
The South Shore Deanery representative serves as a liaison between St. Paul's and the parishes of the South Shore Deanery and an advocate for the Mission. The representative attends regularly scheduled meetings of the executive committee (usually monthly). The representative occasionally attends the vestry meetings of parishes of the deanery in order to relay the progress of the Mission and to advocate for its needs. He or she is responsible for assuring that the congregations of the parishes of the deanery remain informed by, for example, writing short articles for their newsletters and/or making announcements at the appropriate time during Sunday worship. As a member of the executive committee, the representative contributes to the ongoing work of managing the life of the Mission and planning its future.

Taunton River Deanery Representative
Duties:
The Taunton River Deanery representative serves as a liaison between St. Paul's and the parishes of the Taunton River Deanery and an advocate for the Mission. The representative attends regularly scheduled meetings of the executive committee (usually monthly). The representative occasionally attends the vestry meetings of parishes of the deanery in order to relay the progress of the Mission and to advocate for its needs. He or she is responsible for assuring that the congregations of the parishes of the deanery remain informed about the progress and needs of the Mission by, for example, writing short articles for their newsletters and/or making announcements at the appropriate time during Sunday worship. As a member of the executive committee, the representative contributes to the ongoing work of managing the life of the Mission and planning its future.

Brockton Community Representatives (2)
Duties:
The Brockton Community representatives serve as a liaison between St. Paul's and various civic, business and governmental organizations of the City of Brockton, and as an advocate for the Mission. The representatives attend regularly scheduled meetings of the executive committee (usually monthly). They occasionally attend meetings of various civic, business and governmental organizations of the City of Brockton with the purpose of communicating the progress of the Mission and advocating for its financial and other needs. They are responsible for recruiting the support of Brockton organizations and for maintaining positive relations with them by means of regular communication. As members of the executive committee, the representatives contribute to the ongoing work of managing the life of the Mission and planning its future.
Qualifications:
The representatives should be familiar with St. Paul's mission strategy planning, and committed to its vision of making a positive contribution to the City. The representatives should possess good interpersonal and communication skills. They should be residents of the City of Brockton and actively committed to it, professionally and/or through volunteer service. The representatives should be knowledgeable about the City's various constituents, organizations, and challenges.

Diocesan Council Representative
Duties:
The diocesan council representative serves as liaison between St. Paul's and the diocesan council. The representative attends regularly scheduled meetings of the executive committee (usually monthly). He or she is responsible for assuring that the diocesan council remains informed about the progress and needs of the Mission by, for example, making reports to the council. The representative is also responsible for communicating relevant information from the council back to St. Paul's. As a member of the executive committee, the representative contributes to the ongoing work of managing the life of the Mission and planning its future.
Qualifications:
The representative should be familiar with St. Paul's mission strategy planning, and committed to it. He or she must be a member of the diocesan council, and should have good communication skills.
Term of service:
The representatives are asked to commit to serving for two years. After two years, we envision, a new executive committee drawn from members of the new congregation will be formed. The representative may continue service on this new committee. When the mission regains parish status, the executive committee will be replaced by a vestry.
Members at Large (3)
Duties:
The members at large attend regularly scheduled meetings of the executive committee (usually monthly). They assist other members of the committee with specific aspects of their duties, as may be decided at these meetings. As members of the executive committee, the representatives contribute to the ongoing work of managing the life of the Mission and planning its future.
Qualifications:
The members at large should be familiar with St. Paul's mission strategy planning, and committed to it. They should have good communication skills. They must be active contributing members of St. Paul's congregation and communicants in good standing.
Term of service:
Each of the three members at large will be asked to commit to a different term of service: one to one year, one to two years, and one to three years. Because it is envisioned that, after two years, the committee will be replaced by a new executive committee drawn from members of the new congregation, These staggered terms will ensure some continuity between the two committees. Members at large may also continue service on this new committee. When the mission regains parish status, the executive committee will be replaced by a vestry.
