St. Paul’s began as a mission congregation in 1871, when Brockton was still North Bridgewater. The rector of Trinity, Bridgewater, began to minister to the English immigrants working in the shoe factories. The missionary efforts of priests of the Society of St. John the Evangelist, grew the church to parish status in 1876, with a new building on the present site in 1893.
