Horizons for Homeless Children seeks Volunteers

Like to play with children? The ones who live in the 25 family shelters in Southeastern Massachusetts need you. A commitment of two hours a week, for six months, is required. Training takes place Saturday, Nov. 1, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Bridgewater State College. Contact Lindsay Fulton at 508-999-9454 or lfulton@horizonsforhomelesschildren.org.

And for children in Brockton: Volunteer after school

The Church and Community After-School Program, at Central United Methodist Church (very close to us, on West Elm Street), needs volunteers to help children with their homework, lead or assist craft, cooking or music groups, be a safe and friendly adult in the life of a Brockton child. Donate your books to Church & Community After-School

Your old or unread books, used CDs, videos, and DVDs will bring in needed revenue for this valuable program. Donations can be dropped off at any time, at the Universalist-Unitarian Church of Brockton, at the corner of West Elm Street and Belmont Avenue. The books are sold through Got Books.
